It's so-called 'ghost update'. It means that someone made a minor update in your file. It could mean anything - from going to the next stage (e.g. the security check was finally completed) to just adding a note.
I'm also August 2016, got 2 ghost updates so far.

I just called them and my case is processed at the central office, Sydney of Nova Scotia.

Made call to cic today again. They were like they have requested for my medical extension on 9th Nov but didn’t get any response yet. She was like we requested medical extension so i and my spouse can have plenty of time for landing. Because my medical is expiring in 08 january 2019 so they can not give copr beyond this date. Idk how long they gonna take to finalize and make a decision on file.. Any idea peeps

I thought they will auto extend the medical? My medical exam was also done more than one year ago.
