I also wonder, if those OWPs processed faster, might be done so because the applicant has previously held a work permit of some kind. I previously had an IEC so, perhaps the processing, once started, goes faster.

Obsessively logging in and out all day, lol. Nothing will get done at home today.
Really not sure about that. Theoretically it does make sense, but if they aim to process in chronological order, then it likely won’t make a difference.

It’s generally approved around 4 months from the date IRCC receive the application. So if the application has been returned, the countdown begins again from the date they receive the amended application.

You’re not the only one caught out on the OWP insufficient fees issue, so anyone who’s had this issue before you, and has since had their OWP application approved, will hopefully be able to provide an update on timescales for you. There may be some expedited process for those applications returned, however, IRCC does state that any application returned for any reason will be treated as if the initial application was never submitted. This is how some people lose valid status, as they rely on implied status, but implied status ends when an application is returned. It’s always prudent to extend your visitor status, just as a back up.

Hopefully you won’t have to wait too long. Good luck.
Thank you

Happy for you ! Can you share your timeline please ? Thanks
Received my owp in the mail today! Going to Service Canada to get my SIN tomorrow
Congrats! Did it just come in the mail? My husband has been waiting for his, and his timeline looks similar to yours. We check the online application status several times per day but it doesn't show the OWP status (it only shows the Sponsorship Application status and the PR Application status) but I'm assuming that's normal?

Question in relation to my wife's OWP. Should she still extend her travel visa? It's set to expire on Nov 18th. Does the temporary residency status that she's now gotten from her OWP cover her saying here, or should we still extend it?

Because on the letter we received, it also says her eTA has now been extended for a few years

No, we haven't heard or seen anything about the OWP application since it was submitted with the rest of the Permanent Residency application. We just received an email stating "This confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2018/06/25 on behalf of the following member(s):". We linked to the site, but it only shows the Sponsorship Application status and the PR Application status. No mention of the OWP at all, even though they were all submitted together.

YOU HAVE TO LINK it , you don't receive a separate email

Received June 29, AOR August 9 and no OWP yet...

The waiting game is hard! I checked the July thread and saw that a July 5th applicant already got their OWP approved! and yet many June applicants are still waiting. I am starting to think they don't necessarily go in chronological order and that there are certain factors that may expedite the approval. e.g. previously held a work permit or from a visa exempt country.

Same.. still waiting.
and its increasingly HARD!

Everyday, checking.. logging in 3x a day
Checking the threads... everyone else is getting it --- a few days before to few days to weeks after me and getting it and as of me still nothing...

I'm from a visa exempt country (USA) and nothing. Everything given upfront.

Received June 25, AOR August 3 and no OWP yet...

This sounds like you are checking your status on ECAS and not on your MyCIC account. Have you created a MyCIC account yet and tried to link your applications there?
