I see, so the form was for spousal access to your records, not because you were using an immigration consultant. In that case, there’s likely a chance that this will not cause a huge delay in processing, maybe a few days for the IRCC to process the new documentation. Hopefully someone who’s had a similar experience to you previously, can offer some advice. This particular topic is somewhat new to me.
I did, however, have an entry to Canada through an airport, where the CBSA didn’t stamp my passport. I enclosed a letter with all the other entry stamps I sent as part of my OWP application advising the date, time, and flight number I arrived on. This was from 2013, so because it wasn’t to prove my current status, they either didn’t care about the stamp being missing, or they verified my claim with the CBSA.
If you’re being asked to prove you have valid current status, it’s probably only due to the requirement that for an OWP to approved, you need valid status. Once IRCC has that confirmed, barring any other issues, the OWP should be issued. Hopefully, this won’t delay the processing. You could try calling the call centre and asking them to confirm receipt and if it’s been processed. They may be able to help.
It certainly can’t hurt to try them. You’re going be asking them to confirm something is on their system, pretty straight forward for them to deal with. If they have received it, it’ll be in the hands of someone in the processing centre in Edmonton, where your OWP is being processed. With a bit of luck, you may have it approved in a few days.
I applied for Common Law PR and OWP - CPC MISSISSAUGA App. delivered: July. 12, 2018 (Police certificate and Schedule A submitted upfront). App. returned: Aug. 21, 2018 (small thiks for fix) App. delivered: Aug. 24, 2018
Waiting for information from CIC...
Hey guys I had applied for an visitor extention because I thought I had messed by on my application by using an outdated form, but seems everything is all right since I already received approval for my OWP.
The extention application is saying Reviewing eligibility, should I cancel the application ? Is that even possible or should I just let the process finish?

Hi everyone,
Is here any beginning of June applicants still waiting for OWP? Our PR and OWP applications were received by CIC on June 8 and no news so far... I see that the end of June applicants are getting OWP already...

AOR should be confirmed soon, provided the application is now complete. You probably would’ve had it returned by now if there were further issues. AOR seems to take about 6 weeks on average, but some people, I’ve read on this forum, have waited as long as 12.
Your application received date is 24th August 18, nothing sent before that time will count towards the time, so hopefully any time in the next couple of weeks the sponsor will receive an e-mail or letter to confirm AOR.

My application was received on 22nd June, and I received AOR on 2nd August. OWP was approved on 18th September and I had the online status updated to approved, with PDF confirmation on 19th September.
There’s a few people with a similar timeline to mine on here, and honestly, I was amazed how quickly it was approved. There’s also still a few people with timelines similar to yours, so I don’t think you need to worry about anything. Sometimes things aren’t done in strict chronological order. I think I read there’s still some late May applicants having their OWPs approved around now too.
They did recently move Vegreville processing to another location in Edmonton, so maybe some of the applications got a little jumbled up. Who knows? I understand you eagerness though, it’s tough waiting for these things. I’m sure you’ll have your OWP very soon and you can relax about it, and then get to work to not be relaxed!

It may not be based on nationality specifically, but there could be a little bias in favour of those from visa exempt countries. I always assumed that those applications would be a little bit more straight forward to process. This could be utter nonsense, however.

Tell me about it. There’s a lot of sub-departments in immigration, with processing centres scattered around the country. Anyone applying for an OWP with their inland PR app will know that Mississauga has to open all of our packages, check them all, return any with errors, then split the OWP app from the PR app, then collate the OWP apps together, then send them to Edmonton processing centre, then the OWP is reviewed for eligibility, and the list goes on...
It all seems very long winded. We have no idea how much time elapses between each step, if there are any KPIs to be met, etc.
But we also need to understand too, that the OWP we apply for is a pilot scheme. It’s not officially a formal part of inland spousal sponsorship. It get renewed every year. They announced a few weeks ago that it will continue beyond December this into 2019. If it becomes a formal part of this process, maybe the OWP won’t be processed by the temporary visa processing center. That may speed it up in future.
I don't think that's it. I'm applying as a German citizen (visa exempt) and I got it approved only on Sep 18 with a Jun 06 app received date. Some with mid/late June app received dates got it before me.
There seems to be about a 2-3 week window between the earliest and latest approvals for the same app received dates. Since your app was received in early July, you should probably give it another 1-3 weeks.
As to what causes these delays, I don't know. Probably something workflow related in how they divide up all the cases between their officers.
Edit: Also note that the time between receiving the app and AOR has gone down over the last few months from 6 weeks to 4 weeks. Work permit target processing times have remained pretty constant at 3-4 months. So for more recent applicants the wait between AOR and OWP approval might get a bit longer (because AORs are sent out quicker but won't actually speed up your OWP timeline).
