Just to ensure, Please call VFS where you submitted your older passport for VISA stamping. If they say, then get stamping on newer passport as well. Talking to them will cover your risk.
I’m in a similar situation but I haven’t renewed my passport as yet. When I called at the VFS office last week, on both occasions they told me that I need to get my visa re stamped on the new passport. I did write to the High Commission and still waiting a revert.

Oh really, i read somewhere on the canada site that the visa on old passport is still valid. Please update when you hear back from the High Commission. Thank you.

I received an email finally from the High commission stating that I can travel with the old passport as they don't follow the 6 months rule but to check with the airlines. They also said that if I choose to renew my passport, I need to submit both passports(old and new) along with my COPR copies to get the visa re stamped on the new passport. I would have to pay the visa fees of CAD 30 and send them a copy of the receipt.

Hi Everyone, a quick update, called CIC canada after waiting for 40 mins on the phone. They said there is no problem in renewing passport and can land with both old and new passport as long as visa is valid.
