I have seen some cases like this, this usually happens because IRCC wants to verify that the applicant during his police service was not involved in any human rights violation. This may land him in SS, but GCMS will be Abe to answer that.
my re-medical result sent to IRCC and medical is already "passed" on May 28, 2018. (App status on CIC updated to "You passed the medical exam" from "You do not need a medical exam")
what do you mean by 'medicals take 3-5 weeks'? did you mean it takes 3-5weeks medicals to be passed? or 3-5 weeks after medical to get ppr?
well, my medical is already passed in May and I don't know what's holding my case back to ppr at this moment.
Hi Legalfalcon. My AOR was on the 11th of April 2018.
I passed medicals on the 1st of May and went straight to IP2 (We are procesing your background check) on the same day itself. CEC Inland. Is this normal? Have not had any updates since then. Could you please advice?
Until a few months ago SS was indicated in the GCMS notes under activities. However, since then IRCC has started retracting it. Now the way to track it is:
1. Check when your eligibility was "Passed." Now recommended passed by an analyst, but conclusively passed by an officer in your GCMS.
2. Usually security starts within a weeks after eligibility is passed and the status is blank on page 2 of GCMS
3. If your eligibility was passed more than 2 months ago, then you may be in SS.

It takes 3-5 weeks for the medicals to be passed. In most cases it just an administrative delay. After everything comes to IRCC, an officer has to cross check and send the file for PPR. Try requesting GCMS notes, sometimes it does trigger movement.

Hi @legalfalcon, Does a previous TRV help speed up the back ground checks? I have worked in the Military (navy) in India previously and visited Canada after leaving the forces. My EE profile has just got an update after 03 months of applying (AOR 23 Mar 2018) that the background check has started. Just curious if there would be a long wait again.

If you have submitted your military background, and given you are from India, it should not be much of an issue, unless you were a submariner, or dealt with intelligence.
Hi legalfalcon,
Need your expert advice plz.
on admissibility section bottom page I’ve security:1 and on top page S15(1) and on next bottom page (top page empty) spouse security:2 and on both says type: security. Does that mean i am under SS?
And on application assignment date is 1st August, 2018. What does this represent for?
AOR: 21st Nov 2016
Eligibility: passed
Criminality: passed
Medical: passed - expired
Info sharing: complete
Other reqs: cancelled

Thank you so much. My eligibility was passed on 18th May 2018 as per my notes. Can you please let me know how can I send you my notes personally for your further opinion.
