I was wondering since I have my own work permit and I'm eligible to apply on my own for Express Entry (I studied, and worked here in Canada) been here for 4 years now and married now expecting a baby, will it be the same wait since I used "Family-Spouse" rather than Express Entry?
really? the lady didn’t mention that to us. what she only said was we just need to provide a letter from her employer telling that she’s now working full time.

Yeah, they basically just need that letter to be written right. And it also has to state that you will be employed for at least another 6 months with the same employer. I knew I was living the company, but our HR manager was my friend, so she put there whatever I asked her to. If she can ask her company to sort of do the same thing - that's great.

So to clarify - as soon as someone gets an OWP and full-time job, all they need is a letter from their employer stating that they will be employing the person for the next 6 months, guaranteed? Then they will be eligible for OHIP?

Temporary foreign workers who hold a valid work permit may be eligible for OHIP coverage. The worker must be employed full-time for an employer in Ontario for a minimum of 6 months and :
Maintain their primary place of residence in Ontario; and
Be physically present in Ontario for at least 153 days in any 12-month period, and
Be physically present in Ontario for 153 of the first 183 days immediately after establishing residency in the province
I don't think that person got OWP approval, if it's the same person I'm thinking of - they had submitted and recently got AOR so that might have been confused as OWP approval. However, my OWP was resubmitted Nov 22 and we got approved yesterday
Actually, I think it was me. I re-submitted my PR and OWP app last december and were received December 09. Got AOR on Jan 24th and OWP was approved last Wednesday and arrived in the mail last Friday.

Wow, that is incredibly fast! Very happy for you! Was yours a special case at all? Or did you just happen to get a very efficient processing agent haha?
That not true. I know that if the employer can give you a letter stating that they will employ her for atleast a 6 month period or whatever time frame as long as over 6 months, they should issue it to her.
I know this from experience of going and getting my OHIP since 2014. I cant wait for my PR so I don't have to go to these places every 8-12 months.
No I'm not even close to AIP! I heard that as well from someone but it is most definitely very untrue - the only time you have to wait for AIP to receive your OWP is if you applied when you are out of status. My background check has only just started processing not too long ago. We've got a bit to wait still for PR! I hope yours comes soon too! What is your timeline?
Every time I call cic they tell me something different. They received my application at Vegreiville October 19th after it was returned. So next week it will be 4 months
