Hi guys....plz advice should i hire a lawyer to apply for citizenship for my family or I can do it my self. I landed in Dec 9 2013 and went back & forth to Dubai as i was working there. After the new bill passed I am now eligible to apply for citizenship. i have around 1100 days in total till date. I havent gone back to Dubai since June 2016 . I knew I would need to have police so I bought it along with me. will the June 2016 police clearance letter be valid or I will need a new one..Technically I havent gone to that country back since then... Kindly advice.
Hi khokharzee,
Thanks for the information. This is tricky. I am confused here too. I landed in Canada in 2013 with the passport which was renewed in January 2013 and still valid and that passport do not have any stamp except Canadian entry stamp but my old expired passport has multiple stamps which are in Arabic too. So my 5 years eligibility period starts from Dec-2012 but my 3 years are going to be completed onward from 2013. Do you think I also need to translate my old passport's stamps ?
This is tricky. Did you send the copy of old passport with your application. If no then you might not need the translations. If I were you, I wouldnt get the translations done unless the officer asks me to.

If you think you can put together all the documentation yourself, then you won't need a lawyer..but that depends on how confident you are really..we can't suggest anything there. About the police clearance...usually the norm here I've noticed is that they need them to be not older than 6 months so there is a chance you would have to get one done now. You could call the IRCC agents and confirm though..they might have better suggestions.

Your application is only as strong as the documentation you provide and to a large extent your situation. I am not sure any lawyer can change this, except to make you spend a bit extra money. If you are not sure how your travel history is going to affect your application, just wait a few more months to give yourself enough buffer.
I just spoke to a CIC agent finally and i was told that my application in Progress has not moved an inch since November as its in the local office in Edmonton and they are no notes or comments. I'm being told since i live in Fort mac which is considered a remote location it appears that i may have to wait till the schedule a test there and she is not sure when that would be although CIC website has February 2018 TBD. I am moving permanently to Mississauga in a few days though i own my fort mac home and can get whatever mails there.. Do you guys think it is smart to change my address or is Mississauga even worse of?? Thank you for your responses.
