anyone who is a January Applicant still waiting for a background check to start?
Did anyone try calling IRCC? they are saying if you submitted your application after sept 19 2016 it is not being processed, but some people already got their DM :S
Yeah I'm still waiting for my BGC. I should be getting my notes soon and I'm hoping they're at the BGC point now.

civil unions are also common law unions. Not necessary same gender marriages.
Legally speaking a civil union is what I have stated above, because a common-law relationship is between two opposite gender and this is how we differentiate in legal papers (this is probably the lawyer in me talking). But yes, you can say a civil union, unofficially, is also a common-law relationship as well.

Hi one more confusion from check list,

Are you the sponsor a Canadian citizen living outside canada?

YES or NO?
or blank?

As I am not a citizen I thought maybe it doesn't concern me?

Guys I know I am asking again, but different people said different things so I had to make sure that how a 2017 applicant did it,

On the doc check list, it says

You the principal applicant have been issued a civil union certificate ?

I should mark it to true or false on the check list?

Thank you

My wife got Marriage Certificate and Marriage Registration from NADRA so yes I will click this as it is very much what a civil union certificate is. I just submitted 2 days ago so a fresh case.

In the checklist (IMM 5533) which pertains to ACCOMPANYING CHILDREN'S ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5533E.pdf

page # 5

It says

I have included children in the application who will receive an immigrant visa at the same time as me YES or NO?

Well we have no children. So We should leave this blank or atleast tick No?

Help please

Select NO or N/A whatever is given , I think it is NO as I remember freshly. Dont leave anything blank . You shoulllllllllld write NO or N/A.

Although I do agree, but I just asked a person who did his case this year and got PPR also.

He said he didn't check civil union.

Guys, are ECAS entries manually entered by an officer or somehow automatic? I got 2 new lines today regarding correspondence they had sent me earlier in the year, which made me laugh because it was so long ago, and now I have 6 lines.

So I'm glad to see a change but I wonder if it even means anyone looked at my file.

I am speaking from Canadian law. Civil union in Canada is considered common law as the law allows people of same gender to marry.

Oh nooo, I also electronically signed the consent form and have been waiting for my notes, which should arrive any day now. I really hope that after this month-long wait, they don't ask to re-submit the consent form. I don't want to wait another month!! Let's see what happens...
Yea we were on day 28 when asked to resubmit the consent form. Keep me posted if your request goes through. All the best.
