I got an email from "CPCO - final request" to send them my passport saying my application is almost complete!
It's only been 2 months since I submitted my application so I am so surprised.
but then on the other hand, because my application on MyCIC is not updated and they sent me this by email only, I am worried if this email is legit not a scam???
Hope it's not, but just to double check!!!

In my experience they don't email you directly, you just receive an email that there is a new message in your account and you have to login to read/retrieve the message. Also make sure that your account status reflects this.
On the other hand the timeline is believable and I heard many mid January are getting the golden message. Also just to be safe search if the address where you are sending it is a legit cic address/office.
Yes. I got it too exactly two months after submitting my documents. My CIC is also showing that application is in progress. I checked the address and it is the case processing center in Ottawa. Does seem that the CPCO is not following the guidelines and updating CIC website as well. I will wait a bit to send my passport to see if that is some kinda of mistake were people got the email when they are not supposed to. Even in the US some people were accidentally sent citizenship certificates.

There is an Annexe form A or form B ( depending on what kind of application you submitted) that would be attached into the body of the email and not as an attachment, and is so badly formatted that it would be impossible to print it as a separate form (..
The top of the letter should contain a barcode with your application number, and your UCI number.
If all these features are present, it is a legit letter!! Congratulations!

There is no bar code in my e-mail. It has my EE and UCI number between two star marks.
Further it doesn't contain a e-mail signature.
I hope this is valid.
