Today is 16th day. I am still waiting for my passport, Is in Abu dhubai for pasting visa... There is no update in GCkey.
Does any one have experience why they take too much time to only visa?

i contacted the embassy yesterday and they replied back today with the following

Your application is currently subject to statutory requirements, including background checks. These requirements must be satisfied before an applicant may be granted permanent resident status. We are currently conducting certain background investigations. As these are conducted by outside agencies, we are not in a position to determine when your application will be finalized.


We can appreciate that you anxiously awaiting news about your application. Please rest assured that we will be in contact with you as soon as possible.


Once your application is finalized, you will receive an email. If your application is approved, the email will give instructions on how to re-submit your passport for the issuance of the visa.

So it looks like the background check is not complete yet on my wife's application.

I've applied for a visitor visa for my wife
They refused her visa 4 times.
I did not give up so I applied for her again for the 5th time and this time they called by phone and asked why I'm applying every few weeks for a visitor visa
I told them that I want my wife to come with me to Canada and they approved her
At that time I had already submitted the sponsorship application to CIC but it was not received yet so the embassy did not know that we have applied for sponsorship so they approved her

I'm quite sure this question has been answered before but Im bit of panic so would like to ask it here.

We just sent out our application, It's been 1.5 weeks since it has been received and came to realize that the pictures for PR are incorrect measurements. the face size is not correct (max 36 mm etc).


Can we take new pictures and send them out again? is it better to send them to the office where my hubby's case will be processed? (abu dhabi)

If someone can assist with this question that will be great thank you.

You can't do anything now
Wait for cic response
If they need need new photos they will send a request for that
Also how do you know that your application is going to be processed at Abu Dhabi
CIC can process your application at any VO they like
Sometimes applications are processed in Ottawa, sometimes in LVO
So just wait for their instructions

Hey, the same thing happened to my husband's application, I initially submitted our file on Feb 10, 2017 and then on March 16, 2017 it was sitting on my lawyers desk, unprocessed due to the wrong sized photos, those photos cost us 2 months; because we had to get new photos but while that was happening, some forms also got updated, so instead of taking the risk we updated the forms as well and now long story short our new application date is April 7, 2017.
I would send them via mail asap if I were you because they don't open your package until a week or two later after it's received but you still have time as of now to correct this mistake however, if you wait any longer, your whole package might come back unprocessed.
