Wow. You don't know Timmy's? You do realise that it's a crime in Canada if you don't visit a Timmy's at least once a week and some provinces every day. Canadians are passionate about Timmy's and my kids love their Tim Bits. Their bowls of chilli got me though manys a cold winters day,
Seriously it is an institution in Canada. Think Starbucks in American. In fact Starbuck is kinda rejected in Canada because they feel so loyal to Timmys. You won't pass your citizen test if you don't know your Timmy's history.
@Ascent I was completely blown away by the many stories you guys told on this topic. I sometimes feel hard done by living here, this little wet rock with all it's little sectarian troubles, but the reasons you guys gave on why you wanted to move really made me feel very small and humble.
Your story in particular made me go hug my daughter and give thanks for this little wet rock. Thank you.

Hahaha! You're nicer man when intoxicated! And by the way I keep track, you haven't said nice wishes for my daughter's birthday! No BBQ next year for you my friend!

Ha ha. I'm sober! I've only been on here once when slightly drunk. Not all Irish are alcoholics. Me and my honorary Irish buddy @KingKurly aren't - but we are working on it, promise!

You're welcome! I'm so happy for you! My baby girl, was born on 1st August 2016 so today is her 1st birthday, and we are planning a party on Saturday I wish all of you could come to a biggest barbecue party ever!
Hey @andieangel. Someone mentioned it is your daughter's birthday.
Tell her a big happy birthday from me and get her a big present. Because your love for her is directly proportional to the amount you spend on her birthday presents and she'll remember it! Don't be a cheap skate!

Thank you @shaun75! Yes of course, this is how the world works the bigger the love the bigger the present! For sure! That's why you will buy me a car right?
And when you google Tim Horton's Croatia you get exactly 0 results! But there's still hope for me! I hope!

My job letter from a past employer does not mention the number of hours/week worked. They dont to give another letter.

Wow 23 and following his dream! Don't you dare give up on it or I'll hunt you down. When I was 23 I had an offer to do an MBA in Waterloo, Ontario. Instead I decided against it and did one in Belfast instead. Worst move of my entire life. Know who's where I would be now if I had done the MBA in Canada. Oh wait, yes I know where I would be.
So don't you dare give up on this dream or I will hunt you down. You older folk like @lino82 - I'll hunt you down too if you give up and you're slower and easier to catch.
I missed this very interesting discussion about reasons for immigrating to Canada and am catching up. But wow @tjsecondtry, you are my hero! I have been feeling bad about being 41 and losing so many points because of age, in addition to wondering how 20+ years slipped by because I still feel 20... it's really nice to see I'm not the only one who is up there in the years!
