You can very well do PR formalities in Montreal .. couple of my friends are planning to take appointment , will let you the process , the best part SIN and RAMQ office are near by so you can get them updated ...
The country is bordered by Alaska (USA) in west, and by 12 US states of the continental United States in south, Canada shares maritime borders with Greenland (an autonomous territory of Denmark) and Saint Pierre and Miquelon, an island which belongs to France.
I unfortunately had a very upsetting (and quite frankly, humiliating) experience last time I crossed the border. Without going into much detail, it basically involved the US agent looking at my passport (without even running it through the system), and telling me he would not process my entry permit while other people where also at the crossing waiting (I would assume that's what the line is for, but he was basically telling me everyone else had priority over me, even though i've had the appropriate visa for all my life). I told him I had arrived with the bus like everybody else, and he just called up the driver and told him to leave me behind...and that I would take another bus later. Even after there was nobody left, he kept me waiting while he chatted up with the other officer, which was followed by a long session of redundant questioning about my trip (which I had already done many times before in the exact same way to visit a family member in the US). My family member was waiting for me to pick me up, and I could not even let me him know that I was held up at the border because the officer told me I could not use my phone to call him.
That was even before the election.....considering how the political situation has unfolded over the last couple of months, I would rather not risk going through a similar experience again. =/... I hope you can understand.
I'll look into the other options the other members have been posting, they all look interesting!
This doesn't surprise me at all @Macarad.
The US border officers are quite intimidating.
But you are not seeking entry to us this time.
My friend who went with me had a US visa too, the guy didnt question it much, cuz u want to go towards Canadian side.
Ofcourse there are other options like landing at an airport but they might be a little time consuming in terms of appointment and stuff.
Hello guys.
I have a question for you regarding my documents. I have applied for permanent residency under PEQ with my CSQ. I was reviewing all the forms and came across a mistake in dates for one of my addresses which is in Montreal. So, I'd like to know if this error could result in the refusal of my application or the officer would simply ask me to correct it?
Thanks
I have no choice but to pay $5 to submit a request for detailed information on the case handling of my application through http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp as it is kind of unexplainable to me now based on my timeline and situation...
