I totally agree with you, the Minister should have made Pre-time count, effective immediately. My original date would have being June 2015, I got pushed to June 2017, now C6 is here again to mess me up. Lol. Its all good though.
@mevisbleek I guess on same boat. If you dont me asking have you applied for citizenship or will be applying before fall 2017 ? I will be applying in next 15 days. Tnx

(Changes expected to take effect in fall 2017 Citizenship Act with Bill C-6 Amendments) Give me a break
The physical presence requirement Amendments are not new for CIC because these Amendments were rules in just 2 years ago.
Very disappointed
I am not really bothered about the implementation date. Rather, I am eager to know the processing time. It's safe to expect 16-24 months processing time, yes, it is likely to happen. Lol
I'm not overdramatizing. It's the FACT. Canadian citizenship has existed since 1947, here is the history:
1947--1977: 1/5
1977--2015: 3/4
2015--2017: 4/6 + 183 + No Pre-PR + Revocation => Screwed Generation on 70 years Canadian citizenship history
2017--Future: 3/5
I suggest there should be a ceremony to remember the Screwed Generation in this Canada Day! The government should formally apologize to the Screwed Generation and prioritize in finalizing their applications.
agreed. I would've been eligible January 2016 under the old rules. I'd be a citizen by now. Then the liberals took over a year to repel that crap, and now I will probably apply sometime this fall, while under the current rules, I could apply January 2018. So I will gain 2-3 months and the opportunity to have my application be part of a massive influx of applications, whereas if they had either:
- never implemented the conservative rules that messed with us, or
- passed this bill in way less than time than over a year
my application would've been a routine one and probably been processed within the regular processing times. I can't see them holding the ~12 months once the floodgates are opened. I wish they had established, or they still establish some sort of fast-track or the like for people like me, who have been here for ages continuously (14 years), or if you studied here, or if you have had a job in your field of study for x years, or something. anyhow...

Many of us are even more disappointed and had their lives messed up,but complaining in this forum won't help. Please contact the minister and PM and let them know that more delays will make this law pointless. Our tweets and emails pushed the law till this point, otherwise it would have been dead long ago
