Any suggestion on how to get the Minor Study Permit for my 15year old son currently in India with his maternal grand father, since both my wife & I are on TFW permit in Winnipeg?

Go on the IRCC site and apply.

I don’t think it’s as straight forward as it’s seems, or I’m reading it wrongly. Both parents being outside is becoming a challenge. Is my understanding right?

You are both foreign workers so can apply for your child’s study permit. What are you reading incorrectly on the IRCC site?

Will partially dependent on how long you WPs are valid and Tier/NOC. Rules are changing in the next few days.

Thanx, what I meant by not being straight forward process is that - its confusing on whether we need to have a PAL/TAL letter from province in not clear since both of us are here.

Can you kindly throw some more light on this? My work permit is valid until 2027, however due to passport expiry it is ending by close of this year. Hence I have applied for a new passport and will apply for the extension.
Is there something I have to worry about?

What is your NOC/Tier?

You don’t need PAL for your child. You can indicate they will attend the local public school.

Why? Does this come under SDS category? However, what I know, I have read so far, is that Open work permit for spouse cannot be extended, but for minor childern study permit is still there. Am I correct? My son will be studying his 11 & 12 here

SDS no longer exists and was for post secondary only. Apply for study permit as minor.

All family members will be affected by new rules. The whole goal is to reduce pressure on infrastructure and lessen the number of temporary residents.

Is the Letter of Acceptance from school mandatory to apply for the Minor Study Permit?
I spoke to the school people in my catchment area, they say until the child is enrolled you can never get the letter of acceptance. They seem to be hearing it for the first time. Now, Its like a chicken & egg story....
Where do I start?
