Consulate General of India – Toronto https://www.blsindia-canada.com/toronto-jurisdiction/oci-fresh.php (Application Fee)
Yes you can use single bank account for getting 2 separate drafts.
I got individual drafts from through bank account for myself and other family members
thank you for answering this question, was very tricky - esplly the first one: this is the most vague n inconsistent piece of information existing/non existent on BLS website.
Hi,
Does anyone have any information regarding getting the attestation/apostle from documentation place at 222 Jarvis street? I went recently and the lady mentioned there was some changes based on a convention and they no longer issue it based on document not being from Canada. Ideally one of my documents is not issued in Canada but it is not from a country that is signed with Canada as one of the convention country. So i got it authenticated from that country’s embassy and then a notary seal. Do u think that would be enough? As then went to the Jarvis place and they refused to do it.
Also, does anyone have any information regarding what they ask at the interview for foreign spouse?
I applied a while back and BLS sent back all my documents and told that first I need to get the interview and permission done then only apply. While i think it mentions on the site to apply and then an interview is done. Lots of confusion happening.
If you have mentioned that you are married but do not include spouse details is inviting trouble for yourself and chance for BLS to make money on your expense. Remember this is not a visa this provides you more or less a permanent status to travel to India etc, so you declare relevant details. Flip things around, didn't you declare spouse status/info when immigrating to Canada ?
if there are ANY two documents which have different surnames for your wife, make sure to submit the name change affidavit (and marriage cert is surely a document they'll ask even though the website states that it is needed only when OCI is being applied based on spouse's merits). you would already have this affidavit as it would've been furnished at various earlier stages. use the same one. or else spend $10 on notary (by taking your own language n print) on a fresh affidavit.
in my case, none of the documents had my wife's maiden name, so BLS made me select 'no' to the question (if the applicant was known with a previous name)
other documents you mentioned i think are to do with PIO - OCI conversion (not sure though).
Hi,
Finally I received the 3rd OCI of the family.
It was a very long journey from citizenship to passport surrender & OCI - Sep 2023 to June 2024.
Thank you all for your feedbacks / informations / queries/ comments, some or other way each one of it helps someone.
Without this forum, I might have been into a blindfolded situation.
Bye for now.
My Bank RBC said for the draft, The Consulate General of India - Toronto does not fit on their system, so they made a draft for The Consulate General of india. They told me they always made draft for this name and removed Toronto. Has anyone had this experience before?
