I applied back in November 2022 (packet was received in mid-November). So far, only update is from when they received my application for PR. Just applied for GCMS notes today to see what's going on.

I think its normal. Because still in processing time.

just checked and processing times for protected persons and convention refugees is now 26 months up from 23 months. The auditor general had shed the spotlight on our plight but instead of improvement on the time frame it got even worse. It now feels like they will never look at our applications

You should apply as your SIN will also expire. I have been waiting for my work permit for 6 months and they asked my biometric in Canada and after that nothing for now. Although it says that they process in 120 days or so, but I didn't get it till now, I guess my application is unlucky.

I will suggest apply atleast a year before as it is free.

i'd suggest that you apply, with the new timelines and prioritization of other pr application classes it may take a while to move even a single step.

Hey, I had the same timeline (WP exp. Mar24 & PR 1st portal email in Dec.) and I applied to renew my WP In Oct '23 for the same reasons mentioned above (pending SIN expiry & uncertainty around the PR timeline).

I received a request for biometrics in Nov '23, and received my new work permit at the end of december/2 weeks ago. It was renewed for ~2yrs.
