we should consider ourselves lucky if we recieve in 5 weeks. I have submitted mine in Vancouver as well with Date of acknowledgement on 21st Oct 2023. I was told in BLS that it would take minimum 10 weeks

Hi,
I am about to print and mail my OCI application to the Brampton office in GTA. I wanted to ask if there is any official checklist of documents that needs to be referred to? There is a single page instruction sheet at the end of the downloaded pdf which contains my application information, but i find that highly confusing to read. Was wondering if there is anything simpler to refer to.

Quick Question- Asking for a friend.
He has an Entry Visa (not an E-visa) valid till 6 Nov 2023 and his flight is for 3 Nov 2023. Can he still enter India or will they send him back?

According to BLS information section - "The visa can be extended by the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer in India. Validity is at the discretion of the FRRO officer "

I have no experience. Made tourist visa several times, conference visa once and e-visa, but never entry visa.
I did a quick search here and found 7 to 10 days + transit time in 2022. @softwaretesting any experience?

I applied a couple of years ago when they had no evisa. Took 35days. But i was scared as shit as BLS had my canadian passport for a month. I was scared they might loose it.
Have to apply again for my spouse. I called BLS Vancouver to confirm about the draft money order. They said they have no info yet. Call tomorrow. fees might be different. Just to make sure.

lol. I don't think your passport will fall apart. It is pretty solid. As they are getting thousands of applications, misplacing might occur. But I have been dealing with BLS for the last 10 years for different reasons and I would admit they have always been really good in handling documents. very professional service

When originals are retained by BLS/Consulate its indeed scary. Long ago when my spouse applied for OCI they used to ask for a whole lot of docs in originals and retain them at the Consulate for 2-3 weeks. We had a few sleepless weeks. OCI application process has got simplified a lot since then.
