Can i sponsor my future wife after divorcing my first wife this year?

Hello everyone,

I applied for pr with my ex wife as non accompanying spouse and she never came to canada so we divorced early this year.
My current girlfriend doest live in canada and we plan to get married at the end of the year.

Can i sponsor her without any issue even if i have divorced in the same year?

Then that applicatoin would have lapsed, and no undertaking in force.

So should be no problem - if it's been more than three years, then IRCC will have record of that. If less than three years, may have to just explain to IRCC that spouse did not immigrate and become a PR, therefore the undertaking also lapsed.

Note, not addressing issue of IRCC evaluation of the new relationship. That's a separate matter than this.

I applied for PR as non accompanying spouse and i did not sponsor her.

By the time we will get married, we will be dating for 1 year and half

We really don't know if IRCC will be more detail on your relationship proof. But if you get married after in the relationship for 1. 5 year and have been in constant contact and have spent time together, then it should be OK.

You can sponsor a spouse, since you do not have any undertaking now.

Why did you never sponsor your spouse if you came to Canada in October 2019 and you only got divorced in 2023? If you were still in a relationship when you landed in 2019 most would have applied to sponsor their spouse right away.

Here's a scenario:

The former spouse was designated as non accompany when he came to Canada in Oct 2019. Then the pandemic came. Many relationship broken apart. It's not unusual to get divorced in 2023.

Why would they want to sponsor their spouse right away if they can just land together? What if their spouse want to continue their work outside Canada and without travel to Canada? It doesn't make sense to sponsor their spouse right away if the spouse don't want to make the move.
