Passed my eligibility on sponsorship application nov/20/22 after 2 years in Etobicoke IRCC, now after 6 months says they are processing my background check, here comes the strike!!! What will happen? How long usually security check takes? Why Etobicoke takes forever?
Definitely is from what I've seen - received portal info (and submitted photo and address) the day before the strike. Patiently waiting for eCOPR xD hoping the strike won't drag it out too long lol

I mention this primarily because we constantly see posters here complaining that IRCC "hasn't even started" some step - whereas the usual explanation is that this 'not started' does not mean anything at all.
Of course, that's just a dumb system giving people useless information, but still - it doesn't necessarily mean it 'hasn't been started.'

Exactly - most ghost updates will mean something has started or moving through the stages of completion, something saying it hasn't started means nothing. All you have to do is have your account linked to a couple different trackers and the information won't match. Even the automated updates on the phone line don't match up. I got PR approval email and portal credentials last Tuesday. When I called Friday it still said they hadn't started my background even though the application tracker showed as completed.
I think people forget that technology is a nightmare when it's on such a large scale and all of the trackers and e processes are still fairly new to the workers
my application has been submitted on december 1st and been transferred to Etobicoke january 31st, and still processing, how much do you think it would need more until they make the final decision?
