As others have said you won't need any slot.
It will let you sign in at midnight Eastern Time of the start date.
You will take the picture of the ID first (this is the hard part, you need the correct brightness around you, you will also need to have a decent webcam on your laptop or a USB webcam), then a picture of yourself in the next step. Once you approve these pictures it will take you straight to the test - it will work any time of the day within the provided window.
If you want, you can cancel at either of these two picture steps and come back again anytime within the test window but if you approve the second picture (picture of your face) and click to proceed to the test there's no coming back after that, you will need to finish the test at that point.
You can take the test during any time window during the window provided, day or night.
Only thing to make sure is to be in a clearly lighted and quiet room, make sure to upload a clear picture and photo id like a DL and there is no noise around. The test is recorded and reviewed later. Your status will change to completed within 2-3 days.
There had been cases recently (rarely) where they asked to take the test again even though they passed the test, due to the photo and id not being clear.
Just wondering if anyone else has a similar situation to mine and can offer any advice.

I didn't get any update in my application except the bulk update(October 7th). I didn't get any ghost update and all status in progress. Is anybody has similar timeline and same status?
I am currently preparing for the test, my test window is Oct 31, 2022 - Nov 21, 2022.
I have already practiced from the following:
Richmond Library (scored 152 / 152).
Toronto Library (scored 61 / 61).
Apna Toronto (scored an 80% average for all tests)
I would like to request advise from the guys who took and passed the test already, is there anything else I should do? Also, based on my preparation, do you think I will pass?
I gave mine with Richmond but got 142 out of 156, then I read the book again and gave my exam last Friday and got 20/20, took me 7 mins to complete the exam. You will be good, just read book twice at least before sitting in the exam! all the best, you will do great

I don't know about the average duration (you'd have to look at the trackers), but my BG verification completed on October 20 and this morning (Nov 2) there was an update notifying me of my scheduled citizenship test.
