can you just walk in for surrender of passport ? I will be driving from Windsor.. so I need to be certain..
any suggestions what time is best to reach for walk-in at Brampton BLS ?

Any montrealite here who visited BLS recently to apply for "surrender and OCI", just have few questions...

• If walk in possible if we show up at 8 morning with complete checklist?
• Can we apply Surrender and OCI at same time?
• Any easy travel proof that could work with Canada passport center to apply within "3-45 days"?

If you have a certificate that looks likes this, then that is all you need as that is the official English translation of the birth certificate. It should have been attested by Ministry of Health. the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the back of the page..

Attached is what I have & back page is just blank. They gave me 2 additional Originals when we asked. Do you think it is missing the attestation?

1) What is the citizenship/National ID no.? Is this the citizenship certificate number?

2) Any other valid passport/Identity certificate held? I am selecting "No" given our Indian passports will become invalid and I am surrendering along with this entry visa application. Correct?

i think you need to take an appointment. Walk in service is not available

Surrender and OCI can not be applied together anywhere in Canada. BLS no longer accepts OCI & surrender certificate together.

Yes, my spouse will be getting SC in 2.5 weeks. Applied on 21-May at BLS-Brampton & it is already in transit to BLS centre. As per internal status it is approved without PV. Not sure when it takes longer is it because of police verification.

That's promising. I applied for my surrender certificate on Monday at BLS-Toronto. The status on Passport Seva is "Surrender certificate is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate" now. Hopefully, the remaining steps don't take too long.

So finally after being in “Ready to Dispatch” status for 2 days we received our OCI cards today.. Timelines;

• Submitted OCI application, in person at BLS Brampton - April 09
• MEA Acknowledgement - May 04
• Processed - May 25
• Dispatched from MEA - May 26
• BLS Ready to Dispatch - June 01
• Received OCI in hand - June 03

Finally end of a painful process.. credit goes to this group who helped me keep my sanity

you will probably have to wait until it turns to “Available for pickup”. This status was for me also, had opted for courier service.
try calling them before you visit.

Surrender and OCI can not be applied together anywhere in Canada. BLS no longer accepts OCI & surrender certificate together.

I have these at the back. The front is identical (except for the details of course)

What birth certificate did you use when applying for Canadian PR? And you must have used this to apply for their Indian passport, so I suppose that it should work for the OCI as well. But check with the consulate.
